The Suzuki Grand Vitara is about to ring in the new year with a minor makeover. The latest version of this long-running, mid-sized SUV will feature a re-styled exterior, interior, better equipment and will come with the option of a slightly cleaner and more frugal engine.
Its front bumper is now more angular, it features new fog lights and — on the top of the range SZ5 model — black accents on the inner headlights. The rear bumper gets a sprucing up and the whole thing sits on newly designed 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the 3 door SZ3 and 3- and 5 door SZ4 models get new seat trims, while the SZ5 5 door models are fitted with a 6.1-inch Garmin-powered touchscreen navigation system that includes European mapping data and downloadable updates.
The touchscreen nav system also allows you to control the Grand Vitara’s infotainment centre, which can play music from CD, radio, SD memory card, as well as iPod and iPhone via a USB port. It’ll also let you stream music or telephone calls over Bluetooth.
There are notable upgrades under the bonnet. The 1.9-litre DDiS models now feature a tweaked emissions control system that reduces CO2 output from 179g/km to 174g/km. That means it’s now one band lower so annual road tax is now cheaper. Fuel economy has been bumped up from 41.5mpg to 42.8mpg.
The nipped and tucked Grand Vitara is on sale now, priced from £15,995 for the entry-level SZ3 1.6-litre 3 door model. Head down to your local Suzuki dealer for more information or to place an order.
