Own a Maserati Ghibli? German tuning company Novitec will make your Italian motor faster and more eye-catching for a fee. The ‘plug and play’ tuning kits start from €1,290.
Novitec promises to improve the performance quite significantly. The V6 twin-turbo, for instance, gets a claimed 66hp and 90Nm power hike, taking the total to 476hp and 640Nm of torque. 0 to 62mph is reduced to 4.4 seconds for the four-wheel drive Q4 models, while the top speed rises to 294km/h – an increase of 10km/h.
The 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel, meanwhile, benefits from a 47hp and 80Nm increase, giving it a 0 to 62mph time of 5.6 seconds – that’s 0.7 seconds faster than the production car.
All engine upgrades are said to focus on more than just sheer power increases, durability and emissions are taken into consideration so hopefully your Mazzy wont blow up half way down the road.
Novitec Tridente also gives buyers the option of 22-inch NM1 alloys, from €3,980. The five double spoke design can be finished in silver, matt black, titanium or polished titanium. Grippy Pirelli P Zero tyres aim to keep you facing the right way.
Opt for the Novitec Tridente suspension, which is tailored to the tyres, and you can fine-tune the ride quality. Height adjustable coilover suspension is available on all rear-wheel drive models; go for the sports springs and the Ghibli sits 35mm lower than usual, giving it a sportier stance.
Up front, the Novitec Tridente Ghibli has a new front spoiler, which changes the look and ‘reduces negative life on the front axle’. There’s also carbon fibre rocker panels and a rear spoiler that improve aerodynamics further. This particular enhancement kit is priced at €3,120.
It’s probably worth giving Novitec a buzz if you crave a little more from your Ghibli. As styling updates go, the changes are, thankfully, subtle, which is more than can be said of the power increases.
The Maserati Ghibli starts from £48,835 for the diesel.
