560hp 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition celebrates 40 years of the 911 Turbo.
If you want a super-rare version of a Porsche 911 Turbo, step this way. The German manufacturer has just announced the ‘911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition’, which celebrates 40 years since the model first graced the world with its presence.
Just 40 examples of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition will be built, each one equipped with gloss black 20-inch Sport Classic alloy wheels, gloss black SportDesign wing mirrors, SportDesign steering wheel with red stitching, black leather interior, Guard Red seat belts and a storage compartment embossed with a Union Jack. The 911 Turbo ‘930’ from 1974 provides the styling inspiration.
There are also personalised carbon door sill guards marked with ‘911 Turbo S ─ Exclusive GB Edition’, a carbon interior trim with decorative Guards Red stitching and leather, Porsche crest on the headrests and a number of ‘complimentary’ accessories including a photo book of the production process, key pouch with Guard Red stitching and a unique indoor car cover.
Enough about creature comforts. Underneath the bonnet is a 560hp twin-turbo flat six-cylinder engine, which lets the special edition 911 Turbo S go from 0 to 62mph in 3.1 seconds and then on to 197mph. A lap of the Nurburgring-Nordschleife is said to take a 7 minutes and 27 seconds. While no tuning has gone on, this is a ridicolously fast machine.
Performance additions inherited from the standard 911 Turbo include all-wheel drive, a retractable three-stage front spoiler and a deployable rear wing that can swap between three positions to either increase speed, downforce or a happy medium of the two.
If you can somehow get on the buying list, expect to pay £150,237 – about £8,000 more than a standard 911 Turbo S. The car is on sale now from Porsche dealerships.
