Pregnant woman was three times over the drink-drive limit when she was stopped by police

A motorist who was pulled over by police was found to be pregnant and four times over the drink-drive limit.

A pregnant woman was stopped by police and found to be more than three times over the drink-drive limit. Amanda Kempton, 30, also turned up to court smoking. Police officers said it was “quite clear” that Ms Kempton was drunk as she drove after celebrating the New Year.

The results of her breath test showed her to be three and a half times over the legal limit. She had 125 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Ms Kempton was handed an eight week prison sentence and banned from the roads for 30 months after pleading guilty to drink driving.

Lee Christmas, defending, described Ms Kempton’s drink driving as a “moment of madness” after she had argued with her boyfriend on New Years Eve.
