TomTom has announced a brand-spanking new app known as TomTom Go Mobile that brings free navigation to Android devices.
The free to download TomTom Go Mobile app gives you 50 miles (75 kilometres) of free premium navigation and real-time traffic information every month.
Those who find themselves romping through the 50-mile quota, which is automatically topped up at the beginning of the month, can pay a one-off fee of £14.99 for unlimited miles over one year or £34.99 for unlimited miles over three.
Smartphones with Android 4.03 and newer with a screen resolution of 800×480 or higher are supported by the new app, which is available in 64 Google Play stores across the world from today, TomTom said.
TomTom Go Mobile features include Tap and Go for getting directions to one of your favourite destinations simply by tapping on the map, speed camera locations and warnings, maps that work without a data connection and mapping updates for 111 countries so you always have the most up-to-date directions.
There’s also quick search for finding where you want to go, with the app already starting to find your destination as soon as you start typing. Points of interest helps you find useful things like petrol stations, while navigate to contacts spares you the need to remember a contact’s address.
TomTom Go Mobile is replacing TomTom Navigation. Those with the old app will receive map updates until the 1st of October, 2015. TomTom Traffic and Speed Camera subscriptions, meanwhile, will continue as usual.
Existing customers who want to embrace the new app can download a three-year Unlimited Navigation subscription for the TomTom Go Mobile app for 50p from within the old app via a pop-up message.
