Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam is a Fiat 500 Abarth rival

You would be forgiven for thinking the Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam has something to do with tennis. It is, in actual fact, the range-topping model arriving in the UK in March 2015.

The Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam (formerly known as the Adam S) hopes to dent sales of the Fiat 500 Abarth with a 1.4-litre turbo Ecotec petrol engine capable of 150PS, 220Nm of torque, 0 to 62mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 124mph.

It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, specially tuned chassis that makes it a better handler and a VXR braking system borrowed from the Corsa VXR helps it stop quicker comprised 308mm ventilated discs at the front and 264mm discs at the rear.

Stop/Start, meanwhile, helps make it cheaper to run. CO2 emissions and fuel economy are 139g/km and 47.8mpg, respectively.

Vauxhall has fitted the Adam Grand Slam with 18-inch alloy wheels, red calipers, VXR Styling, rear lower spoiler, CD player with USB and aux-in, digital radio, leather steering wheel, aluminium sports pedals, tinted rear windows and a VXR styling pack among other things.

Vauxhall unveiled the Adam Grand Slam at the 2014 Geneva Motor show. Prices start from £16,995 – £995 less than the Abarth 595 Turismo.
