Not sold on the looks of Volvo’s new XC90? Try this for size. The Swedish manufacturer has revealed an R-Design version that ‘radiates a truly sporty and dynamic look’.
Ignore the cringeworthy marketing speak and you will see the new Volvo XC90 benefits from its new threads. 20-inch R-Design alloys, a new grille, front spoiler, silk metal around the windows, dual exhaust exits, integrated silver roof rails and silver matt mirror covers give it a stronger look.
Inside Contour sports seats, perforated leather steering wheel and gear shift knob sit next to R-Design branded pedals, floor mats and illuminated tread plates. Rounding off the package is a R-Design leather key remote control for getting in and out of the thing.
R-Design sits above Momentum and is equal to Inscription in terms of trim level. Inscription offers a focus on luxury and a more elegant exterior design, while R-Design prefers to keep it sporty.
The new Volvo XC90 comes powered by a range of two-litre, four-cylinder Drive E hybrid powertrains, the most powerful of which pumps out 400hp and just 60g/km of CO2 emissions.
All 1,927 examples of the First Edition XC90 sold out in just 47 hours, according to Volvo. Not bad for a £45,000 car that we still know relatively little about. Scroll on down for pictures.
