Watch a driver take 17 attempts to perform a three-point turn

Three point turns can be a pain at the best of times, but one driver made such a pig’s ear of the manoeuvre her “painfully embarassing” efforts made it onto YouTube.

The unnamed driver, believed to be in her late twenties or early thirties, was trying to turn around her white Nissan Qashqai. Onlooker Chris Elrick captured the footage on a dash camera while waiting to pick up his father-in-law.

The video shows one car perform the move how it should be done. Then we see the Qashqai go back and forwards, over and over while the lady tries to leave the way she came into the car park. It takes 17 attempts, in fact, before succeeding.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the dad of two said: “All she had to do was pull up close to me and she could have done a regular three-point turn. When she didn’t, I knew straight away.”

He said the car was clearly “too big for her to handle” and that the whole thing was “painfully embarrassing” to watch.

To add salt to the wound, the new Qashqai has rear parking sensors as standard, which are designed to make these sorts of manoeuvres easier. Even so, what should take 30 seconds ended up taking closer to an excruciating two minutes.

The video was filmed near Kettering in Northamptonshire on the 3rd of March, 2016 and has since gained coverage from various national newspapers.

Looks like you have competition, Austin…
