Watch a Peugeot 205 GTI meet its maker at the Nurburgring

If you dislike classic superminis being smashed up, now is the time to look away. A video has been released of a 205 GTI smashing into a crash barrier.

The video, uploaded by YouTube user RingMuster, shows an in-car camera view of a driver lapping the Nurburgring in Germany. Suddenly a blue 205 GTI overtakes on the right and things start to go pear-shaped for the Frenchie.

As the car enters a sweeping right-hander, the 205 GTI looks settled but some mid-corner acceleration and a quick lift of the throttle induces lift-off oversteer, which the driver tries to counteract as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, the counter-steer ends up in the 205 GTI snapping back towards the Armco crash barrier on the outside of the corner at great pace and ends up facing almost completely backwards before it hits.

It is unknown how much damage was done to the 80s classic, but at that pace we would hazard a guess it will need more than just a good clean.

The driver is by no means the first to get it wrong on this legendary circuit and certainly not the last. Check out the video below try not to wince.
