Wheel Clamp Man removes car clamps with angle grinder

Having your car clamped can be a nightmare, especially if you dispute being parked illegally. Fortunately one lycra-donning ‘superhero’ in Australia is fighting back against these oppressive automotive shackles.

Some people have very little shame.
Some people have very little shame.

Imaginatively known as Wheel Clamp Man, the moustached vigilante parades around in an outfit comprising green lycra, black speedos and multi-coloured socks. He patrols the streets of Perth, removing wheel clamps with an angle grinder to save motorists the $135 release fee.

Naturally, Wheel Clamp Man is loved by motorists who think wheel clamps are a system of extortion, but not so loved by the police, who have labelled the hero a menace. A spokesman for Western Australia’s police department said, “He is committing the offence of criminal damage. We will deal with him,” and urged the public to turn him in.

Wheel Clamp Man was inspired to become a superhero when he was poisoned by a radioactive parking ticket became a victim of clamping. Speaking to Perth’s Sunday Times, the masked hero said: “I’m helping people. I don’t feel I’m damaging property.”

“The amount of money these companies make off innocent people is insane. Where does that money go? Not into car parks or safer streets. It goes into their pocket,” he explained.

This isn’t the first time somebody has decided to take the parking laws into their own hands. Wheel Clamp Man admitted he was inspired by the UK’s Angle-Grinder Man, another hero who removed wheel clamps (and allegedly still does) in London and Kent.

We’ve yet to hear tales of Parking Ticket Man but it can only be a matter of time.
