There are some terrifyingly inept drivers on our streets, but arguably none more so than an Essex woman who failed her theory test a whopping 105 times. Yes, one hundred and five. No, that’s not a typo.
The unnamed woman, whose remarkable achievement was revealed by the Driving Standards Agency, is believed to be the country’s most incompetent learner, according to the Telegraph. No other candidate manages to come close, although a man in Peterborough, Cambs, is doing a similarly efficient job of disgracing himself with 84 attempts and counting.
It’s remarkable to think someone could have attempted the test so many times without success, and even more remarkable to think the woman will have wasted more than £3,255 in the process, enough to pay for a nearly endless stream of taxis.
It is absolutely unbelievable, it must have cost her a fortune.” said Andrew Howard, the AA’s head of road safety. “There are people who are not very good tests, people who are nervous and some just don’t prepare adequately. Cases like this raise the question that there are some people who just can’t pass a theory test.”
Robert Gifford, Executive Director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety, added: “It’s hard to comprehend how someone could take the theory test this many times and fail.
Is your knowledge of the Highway Code as good as you think it is? Have a go at the theory test for yourself and let us know how you got on.
