Amazon has made its Lovefilm streaming TV and movie app available to download on the Xbox One.
The app has been brought out on the same day as when the console goes on sale. The LoveFilm Instant app will be available from the Xbox Marketplace. Users can access the latest content available on the streaming service including TV shows such as Dexter, Greys Anatomy and Crossing Lines, and blockbuster films such as Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II, X-Men First Class and Up.
The app also sports all of the service’s most popular features including 1080p high definition streaming, Dolby Digital Plus (5.1) surround sound, the Watchlist – allowing members to organise the film and TV shows they want to watch at a later date – and Whispersync technology to make pause and resume viewing on another device easier than ever before.
The app will also support a range of new Xbox One features. ‘Snap’ and ‘fill’ modes allow members to view content from a side panel on the screen while navigating other menus, games or apps in the main window. Achievements and Challenges are also supported with members able to earn badges by fulfilling actions such as adding titles to their WatchList or watching new releases.
The Xbox One’s Kinect motion sensor also enhances the viewing experience by allowing easier navigation around the LoveFilm Instant catalogue. Users can browse, select and move through content with the wave of a hand, while voice commands are also supported.
Simon Morris, Chief Marketing Office, at LoveFilm said: “The next generation of videogame consoles is a fantastically exciting prospect for LoveFilm members in the UK, as accessing and discovering quality content will be easier and even more intuitive than ever before.”
