Amazon Prime Instant Video swipes exclusive rights the Halle Berry sci-fi drama Extant

Amazon has picked up the exclusive UK rights to Halle Berry sci-fi vehicle Extant

The series will stream on Prime Instant Video. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Studios produces the show. 

Amazon with stream the series episodes in the UK one day after broadcast in the US. The first episode broadcasts in the US on 9 July.

The show is a thriller that centres on Berry as an astronaut trying to reconnect with her family after she returns from a year in space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history, according to the show’s description. 

The series also stars Goran Visnjic, Camryn Manheim, Michael O’Neill, Hiroyuki Sanada, Pierce Gagnon and Grace Gummer.

Amazon’s other recent exclusive UK premieres of TV shows have included Michael Bay’s pirate-themed series Black Sails and historical hack-and-slash romp Vikings
