If you have ever wondered why someone hasn’t invented a light bulb that could play music, wonder no more. Awox has launched its new StriimLight (SL-B10) LED light bulb with a built-in Bluetooth speaker.
The LED bulb sports an integrated Bluetooth speaker powered by the light socket. It will stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as a smartphone, tablet or computer without any wires or extra equipment. The device can then send music to be played via the light fitting.
The bulb is an 8W LED light (equivalent to a 40-watt incandescent bulb) and the speaker is rated at 10 watts. The bulb will screw into any medium-base E26 socket. It also comes with a remote for turning the light on and off, and adjusting volume and mute.
“The AwoX Striim brand makes connecting things in the home simple,” said Alain Molinie, chief executive of AwoX. “We made our products affordable and accessible so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a connected home, without having to completely replace their existing equipment.”
The AwoX StriimLight will be available in January 2014 for $99.
