Tesco is punting half price Blinkbox movie and TV cards until the middle of October.
The supermarket chain is also giving customers discounts on snacks and drinks as part of its “Great Nights In” promotion.
Tesco took the opportunity to take a sideswipe at rival streaming services by claiming the promotion was to celebrate its service having “ten times more of the latest blockbuster movies that Netflix and Lovefim Instant”.

Among the highlights of the service over the next couple of months are Game of Thrones as well as recent releases like Star Trek Into Darkness or Fast and Furious 6, available to rent or buy.
The cards will be available in £5, £10 and £20 denominations. To redeem the card customers can visit www.blinkbox.com/redeem, sign in or create an account, scratch off the label on the card and enter the code into the website, which will credit the account with the value of the card. Viewers can then view movies and other content.
The supermarket is also offering customers discounts, with 2 for £2 on a great range of selected crisps and chocolate plus 4 for 3 on selected single beers and various offers on wine. Presumably to consume while watching the telly.
