YouView customers who’ve bought an unbranded, non-BT box will need to call BT if they want to get BT Sport.
The forthcoming sports channels will be launching on August 1 on BT Vision, Sky and BT YouView.
The BT YouView box is made by Humax and spec-wise is virtually identical to the Humax DTR-T1000 and T1010 YouView boxes you can pick up in the shops.

The good news is that BT intends to offer BT Sport on YouView retail boxes in time for the launch of the channels. Customers will need to call BT on 0800 800 801 to register their details in order to get the channels.
Read Recombu Digital’s guide to YouViewAt launch, there will be two ways to get BT Sport. If you’re a Sky TV customer you can opt to take the channels directly, and pay £12/month (or £15/month for the HD channels). Otherwise you can pick up the channels free through your Sky+HD, BT Vision or BT YouView box, provided you’ve got a BT Broadband connection.
It’s understood that TalkTalk hopes to offer its TV customers BT Sport in the future, but for the time being, TalkTalk TV punters won’t be able to get BT Sport.
