BT YouView and retail boxes get adult channels filter update

YouView boxes from BT will get a software upgrade to overcome a few glitches that have plagued devices.

Among the fixes for the BT devices are one to remedy the HDMI CEC TV standby-to-on and source selection feature not working as expected. YouView said that further improvements to HDMI CEC to switch devices to standby/off may be included in a later release.

The update will also fix missing options when the (i) button is pressed on a recorded programme as well as black/blank screen displayed when tuning to a channel with a recording in progress.

The software also include a number of enhancements to the device including the ability to remove the currently set channel filter via the red button; Adult Channels will only appear in ‘Adult & Dating’ or in the ‘All Channels’ Filters.

The marker colour will alternate between grey and blue with each 5 minute interval; An HD icon will be displayed for HD channels.

YouView said that the update will be a phased roll out so not all boxes would receive the update at once. The update only affects Humax boxes from BT. TalkTalk TV, which makes use of Huawei equipment, will receive the update soon, but there’s no ETA for this yet.
