Content from crime classics repeats channel Drama is coming to catch-up on UKTV Play.
Shows including The Bill, The Forsyte Saga and Death Comes to Pemberley among other genre classics like Birds of a Feather can now be streamed at the touch of a button.
Dan Fahy, UKTV’s director, commercial and business development, said: “UKTV Play is proving popular with viewers and we want to give them even more access to UKTV’s great programming, when and where they want.
“The addition of Drama’s well known and loved programming reinforces UKTV Play’s position as a must-have on demand service for our audience, especially as we continue to launch UKTV Play on to more platforms.”
UKTV Play is a hub for on-demand services, which includes catch-up players for Dave, Yesterday and Really. You can search manually for your favourite shows, browse A-Z lists or sift through hand-picked collections of shows from a range of UKTV channels. Eventually, UKTV Play will serve as a portal for original content, taking a leaf out of the BBC and Amazon’s books.
Drama launched on Freeview back in 2013, bringing repeats of classics including the BBC’s 1995 edition of Pride and Prejudice, Sharpe and Call The Midwife. To celebrate the launch of the channel, UKTV arranged for a giant statue of Colin Firth as Pride‘s Mr. Darcy to emerge from the waters of the Serpentine.
Virgin TV customers with a TiVo box are already sitting pretty – Virgin Media’s connected TV platform already offers access to all ten of UKTV’s channels, while Sky TV punters can get Dave, Gold, Alibi and Watch content on-demand.
At the time of writing, Drama hasn’t yet appeared as an optional channel in either of the mobile apps, online or on YouView.
