Food Network app launches for iOS and Android

Gastronomes can now stream content from Food Network on iOS and Android devices on the go.

Thanks to a deal between Food Network UK and TVPlayer makers Simplestream, the likes of Barefoot Contessa, Restaurant Stakeout and 15 Minute Meals from beloved mockney Jamie Oliver can be dined on during morning trip to work or at the kitchen counter. The new app lets you stream shows live as they’re being broadcast or on a catch-up basis.

Simplestream’s Dan Finch said: “We have developed a sophisticated yet simple app that allows our passionate viewers to enjoy the very best of live and on-demand viewing whether they are in the kitchen, on the sofa or on their daily commute.

“The launch also provides our commercial partners further opportunities to engage with and deepen their relationships with our audience, as Scripps Networks UK & EMEA continues to deliver its high quality and unparalleled lifestyle content throughout the region.”

Simplestream’s own TVPlayer app already allows users to legally stream content from other free-to-air broadcasters such as the BBC and Channel 4, and the company recently struck a deal with Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai, Japan’s public broadcaster, to add its NHK World channel to the service

So if you fancy watching someone knock up a tidy white bean cassoulet from the comfort of your bathtub, or losing yourself in a decadent cake recipe head over to the iTunes App Store (iOS 7.1 or higher) or Google Play (4.0.3 or higher) to place your order now.
