Hauppauge’s Broadway is a streaming TV device similar to a SlingBox which lets you watch live TV from anywhere in the world. Now, the Broadway lets you record programmes on the go as well, thanks to a recent software update.
You’ll need to stick an external USB flash drive or hard drive in to your Broadway to act as storage. But once that’s done you ought to be able to access programmes you’ve recorded on to this storage from wherever you can get online.
You can watch programmes streamed from the Broadway on PCs and Macs as well as iPhones, iPad and Android phones and tablets running Android 2.2 Froyo or higher.
The Broadway will also stream TV to the Amazon Kindle Fire, though only when Silk’s cloud-accelerated browsing is disabled.
Everything is streamed through browsers, so there won’t be any extra software or apps to install. While you can stream to multiple devices, firmware updates for the Broadway itself need to be done from a PC or Mac.
Hauppauge has an extensive and detailed set-up guide for how to go about setting your Broadway up for recording here. The Broadway is available to order now and costs £150 from Play.com.
