How can I get Sky Sports 5?

Sky Sports 5 is Sky’s new European football channel, exclusive home of UEFA Champions League, every non-UK Euro 2016 qualifier as well as La Liga, Coppa Italia, Eredivise and the Copa del Rey.

Sounds great – but how do you get it?

Sky Sports 5 is available on the majority of pay TV platforms – that’s Sky, Virgin TV, TalkTalk TV and BT TV – with the notable exception of YouView-based BT TV boxes.

With the launch of Sky Sports 5 set for August 12, it’s likely to stay that way as well, unless BT and Sky sign a deal at the 89th minute.

In the meantime, we tell you where you can sign up for Sky Sports 5 and how much you’ll pay.

How can I get Sky Sports 5 on Sky TV?

Sky Sports 5 is part of the Sky Sports bundle of channels. This costs £24.50/month.

Unlike Sky Sports 1 or 2, which you can get for £13/month each, you can’t get Sky Sports 5 on its own.

Sky Sports channels need to be taken in addition to one of Sky’s basic bundles of TV channels. These are the Original Bundle (£21.50/month) the Variety Bundle £28/month and the Family Bundle (£33/month).

Going for the cheapest option – Original Bundle plus Sky Sports – will cost you a total of £46/month. If you want all of the Sky Sports channels in HD as well, that’ll cost you an extra £5.25/month.

Your grand total for Sky Sports 5 in HD on Sky TV comes to £51.25/month.

Sky is also currently running a promotion where you can get Sky Broadband Unlimited (normally £7.50/month) free for two years. You’ll have to pay line rental (£15.40/month) as well. If you’re in the market for a new broadband service as well as sports this could save you a bit of money, but it’s not essential to getting Sky Sports 5.
