How can I watch Guardians of the Galaxy? Google Play, Blinkbox, Wuaki.tv and Sky Store

This summer’s biggest box office smash Guardians of the Galaxy is now available to watch online.

If the idea of talking raccoons, monosyllabic trees and Chris Pratt in red leather appeals then point your browser over to Google Play now.

Google’s Movies and TV pay per view service has just launched Guardians of the Galaxy to rent for £3.49 or buy for £9.99.

Line up: How do the Guardians measure up on the UK’s streaming services?

If you want the film in HD you’ll need to part with £4.49 to rent the film for 30 days (with a 48 hour viewing window) or £11.99 if you want to buy it.

Google doesn’t specify whether or not its HD titles are 720p HD (1280×720 pixels) or 1080p Full HD (1920×1080) before you buy.

A feature of Google Play Movies and TV is that you can start watching a title on one device and pick up where you left off on another.

If your phone or laptop isn’t capable of displaying Full HD media, any HD purchases will be played back at the highest possible quality. If you started watching Guardians of the Galaxy on a non-HD device and carried on watching on an HD TV later on, it should revert to high definition.

Chromecast, Google’s TV streaming stick supports Google Play TV and Movies, so you can cast purchases from your Android phone or tablet.

Google Play TV and Movies is now also available to Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick owners. Downloading the app from the Roku Channel Store means you can get Guardians of the Galaxy and other titles on your TV even if you don’t have an Android device.

Blinkbox

Blinkbox has also snapped up Marvel’s latest box office hit. You can rent or buy Guardians of the Galaxy in SD or HD (720p) for £3.49 and £4.49 or £9.99 and £13.99 respectively.

As with Google Play you have 30 days in which to start watching Blinkbox rentals, and 48 hours to finish watching once you’ve started. Blinkbox lets you watch content on up to two devices, so you get the same degree of flexibility that you get with Google Play.

Blinkbox is also available on Chromecast as well as PC, Mac, iPad, Android tablets, Windows tablets, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, plus selected LG, Philips, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba smart TVs.

Wuaki.tv

Wuaki.tv customers can rent or buy Guardians of the Galaxy for the same prices as Blinkbox customers and like Blinkbox it’s also Chromecast-compatible. Unfortunately like Blinkbox, HD content is also 720p HD, not Full HD. While rentals are subject to the same 48 hour period, you currently only get to keep purchased titles for three years whereas with Blinkbox you get to keep them forever.

Wuaki.tv is available on PC, Mac, LG, Panasonic and Samsung smart TVs, iOS, Android, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and EE TV.

Sky Store

You can now also rent Guardians of the Galaxy from the Sky Store. Note that Sky Store purchases bought online can only be watched through the online player. If you rent Guardians of the Galaxy through your Sky+HD box, TalkTalk TV box or a Roku player you can only watch it through your TV.

Once you’d rented Guardians of the Galaxy you’ll have 48 hours to watch it. You can start watching films as they’re downloading, but it’s best to wait until you’ve got the whole thing downloaded if you’re on a slow connection.
