How can I watch the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas 2014 special?

This year, the festive special features some stars of the past series including:

● Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor

● Rachel Stevens and Tristan MacManus

● Louis Smith and Aliona Vilani

● Chris Hollins and Iveta Lukosiute

● Russell Grant and Joanne Clifton

All six couples will take to the floor with the theme of pantomime, each taking iconic roles from some of the UK’s favourite pantos.

Judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli will join presenters Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daley in the special, although as usual, there’ll be monster doses of both Christmas cheer and scrooge moments along the way.

Watch Strictly Christmas Special on TV

The special will air on Christmas Day at 5pm on BBC One. It’ll be available to watch on both standard definition and the HD channel if your TV and set top box allow it so all the glitz and glamour will be plain for everyone to see in Full HD 1080p resolution.

Watch Strictly Christmas Special online

If the rest of the family have vetoed the Strictly Come Dancing special live on TV, you can also watch it online via the BBC iPlayer app on your mobile, computer or games console. The BBC iPlayer app is available for Chrome, Linux, Mac and PC, or you can view it through your Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera or Safari browser.

You can access BBC iPlayer on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Wii. If you’ve got a Chromecast and an iOS or Android phone, you can cast iPlayer to a second TV that isn’t connected to a TV service.

Special without even leaving the living room on your Android phone or tablet, iPhone, iPod or iPad.

Catch up with the Strictly Christmas Special on BBC iPlayer

If you don’t want to miss James May’s Toy Stories on BBC Two, Big on Channel 4, Christmas favourite flick Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Channel Five or any other great content showing at 5pm, you can catch up with the iPlayer too.

Usually, content is available hours after it’s been shown on live TV, so while you’re tucking into the cold turkey sandwiches in the evening, you can catch up on iPlayer via any of the above platforms or watch it via iPlayer on your Smart TV, Blu-ray player, YouView, Virgin Media On Demand, Sky On Demand, Virgin Media or BT TV box.

The Strictly special will be available to watch again 30 days after Christmas Day.
