As well as finally launching an EyeTV Micro device for the hungry Android faithful, Elgato has announced a new, smaller EyeTV device for iPhone and iPad.
Roughly half the size of any other mobile digital TV tuner, the new EyeTV for iOS devices will cost €99.95 (£78.95) when they go on sale later this month.
Eye TV Mobile app for iOS has been around for awhile now and the app has had some fancy updates since launch.
You can record shows and save them to your iPhone/iPad for later watching, even when the app is running in the background. You can also open up Safari when you’re holding your device in portrait mode, making tweeting while watching TOWIE/Question Time/Cash in the Attic easier – second screening on one screen.
The Elgato EyeTV is basically a portable DVB-T tuner with a 30-pin Apple connection. Hopefully in the future we’ll see an EyeTV device sith DVB-T2 tuners which would let us get Freeview HD on our lovely Retina Display new iPads.

Virgin Media TV Guide and Virgin Media Anywhere
Virgin Media doesn’t yet have an iOS app that lets you watch TV on the go but the Virgin Media TV Guide at least lets TiVo customers set recordings remotely. You can also use this app at a glance to check for what programmes are on at a glance whether you’ve got a TiVo box or not.
Virgin Media Anywhere is a forthcoming iPad app that will let you access a mixture of on-demand and live TV, based on your Virgin Media TV subscription. The latest ETA for this app is October 2012.
