YouView: What’s happened?
Humax has announced that the DTR-T1000 – the first YouView box – goes on sale this Thursday the 26th of July.
YouView is a new digital TV platform that gives you the same digital terrestrial channels you get on Freeview plus streamlined access to on-demand BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5. Now TV and STV on-demand apps will be added over time.
Through the programme guide you’re able to set recordings for current and future programmes and, provided they’re available through the catch-up services, watch TV shows from earlier in the day.
Set up is simple, and everything you need to get connected is provided in the box. Check out our hands-on with YouView, shot at the launch event to get a feel for how it looks and works.
YouView Humax DTR-T1000 – Where can I get it?
The Humax DTR-T1000 costs £299 and will be available from John Lewis, Currys, Amazon, Comet, Argos, the Euronics group and Richer Sounds.
For your money you get a twin tuner (record up to two shows at once), pause and rewind, series linking plus a 500GB hard drive giving you up to 300 hours of standard definition and 125 hours of HD storage. For a more detailed breakdown of what you get for your money, check out our YouView Humax DTR-T1000: What do you get for £299? feature.
