Fibre broadband provider Hyperoptic is selling its gigabit services to residents of London’s Marlin Apartments.
The hyperfast ISP offers customers a top level service providing download and upload speeds of 1Gbps (1,000Mbps), some of the fastest speeds around, for £50/month.
The new services are available to three of Marlin’s six London developments – Empire Square in London Bridge, Queen Street and St Paul’s and Canary Wharf. It’s not currently known if Hyperoptic will offer services in all of Marlin’s locations.
The swanky pads, aimed at high flying guests stay for as short as one night to a year, aim to create a ‘home from home’ experience and come with with free WiFi, flat screen TVs and fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms.
A basic service – providing 1Mbps download speeds and 1Mbps uploads – will also be included free of charge. Guests have the option to upgrade to Hyperoptic’s regular broadband services. You can get th entry-level 20Mbps down and 1Mbps service for an extra £12.50/month, a mid-range service, which gives you 100Mbps down and up for £25/month – or the top tier £50/month gigabit service.

Hyperoptic also offers its 20Mbps service free to residents of Get Living London’s Stratford apartments as well as City Nites’ Canary Wharf developement.

Hyperoptic recently revealed intentions to bring its services to Birmingham, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. The ISP now operates (or plans to operate) in 12 cities across the UK, including. London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow.
Update: Hyperoptic have clarified that the ‘basic’ service offered to Merlin guests free of charge is a symmetrical 1Mbps service, not Hyperoptic’s basic 20Mbps down and 1Mbps service. The article has been amended.
