Hyperoptic fires up gigabit broadband in Nottingham

Pure fibre ISP Hyperoptic is now offering gigabit broadband services to Nottingham folks and firms.

Hyperoptic’s symmetrical FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) lines deliver download and upload speeds of up to 1Gbps (1,000Mbps) at prices that won’t break the bank.

If you’re lucky enough to live in a development where Hyperoptic is selling its wares, you’ll be able to access speeds head and shoulders above that of the current national average for £47/month plus line rental.

Right now, services are already available in Marco Island in the city centre but Hyperoptic says that installations are taking place in ‘a number of other developments’ across Nottingham.

“We have been hugely encouraged by the appetite for our hyperfast broadband – we choose our cities based on registrations of interest, so it’s fantastic to be fulfilling this demand in Nottingham.”

Hyperoptic plans to make its services available across the length and breadth of the city centre by the end of the year. The company typically targets new build property developments of at least 50 dwellings, prioritising installations based on demand. A number of other developments are also undergoing installation. Hyperoptic is committed to extend its footprint across the length and breadth of the city by the time the year is out.

Councillor Nick McDonald of Nottingham City Council revealed that Nottingham businesses will be able to make use of the UK Government’s Super Connected Cities vouchers, which give firms money off the installation costs of next-gen broadband services.

Funding is available until April 2016 to companies based in the City of Nottingham, or in the Greater Nottingham areas of Broxtowe, Gedling, Rushcliffe or Hucknall.

Hyperoptic’s gigabit serivces are also available in London, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham and Newcastle.
