The ISPA Awards look beyond the big five UK broadband providers

London-based FTTP broadband provider Hyperoptic competes with four nominations for best superfast broadband, consumer fixed broadband, consumer customer service and the Customer Choice Award.

Plusnet’s four nominations are for best superfast broadband, consumer fixed broadband, business fixed broadband and the Customer Choice Award.

ISPA secretary general, Nick Lansman, said: “Congratulations to all those shortlisted for the 15th ISPAs. The two new categories again demonstrate the innovation of our industry and the diversity of the internet sector in the UK. The ISPA Awards are now 15 years old and it’s still great to be able to celebrate successful British businesses.

To be nominated is a big achievement, with rigorous technical testing and written entry forms analysed by expert judges or votes from customers. I look forward to the ceremony and best of luck to all entrants.”

The Customer Choice Award is open to a public vote from customers of the ISPs through an online vote, with the shortlist also based on customers rating their ISP online with ISPA.

Two awards will be closely guarded secrets until the evening of July 11, 2013: the Internet Hero and Internet Villain awards, selected by the judges.

Many of the ISPA Awards are based on a combination of the judges’ votes, public feedback and two months of rigorous technical testing.

ISPA has added two new categories to the list this year, Best Superfast Broadband and Best Fixed Wireless Broadband.

The full awards list is: Best Consumer Fixed Broadband, Best Business Fixed Broadband, Best Superfast Broadband, Best Fixed Wireless Broadband, Best Consumer Customer Service, Best Business Customer Service, Best SME Business Hosting, Best Large Business Hosting, Best Internet Telephony, Digital Inclusion, Internet Safety & Security, Managed Service Innovation, Customer Choice, Internet Hero, and Internet Villain.
