LG Hombot Square robovac gets a smart control upgrade

LG is promising more control and convenience to users with an updated range of Smart Hombot Square robot vacuum cleaners launched at CES 2014.

LG claims the latest Smart Hombot Square robo-cleaner will have a significant boost in cleaning performance with added features such as Smart Control, Cleaning History, Smart Diagnosis and software update.

These allow owners to control the device using their smartphones so they no longer have to hunt for the device’s remote control or press its start button themselves.

“Our convenience-enhancing products are engineered to give consumers more control and more time to enjoy what’s really important,” said Seong-jin Jo of the LG Electronics Home Appliance division.

“The Smart Hombot Square is unique in its ability to clean the hard-to-reach places in the home. LG’s ultimate goal is to improve people’s lives. We believe that with the innovation we’ve built into Smart Hombot Square, we’re doing just that.”

Tested last year by Recombu, the LG Hombot Square is designed to fit into hard-to-clean corners better than traditional disc-shaped cleaning robots.

The Cleaning History function allows users to check the vacuum’s cleaing results and comes with a map to see which areas have been cleaned, to help owners work out if the vacuum needs to be used again.

There is also a large capacity Easy-out Dust Bin that requires less frequent emptying, alongside existing features like Voice Guidance, Corner Master and Dual Eye 2.0 cameras.
