Connect ID customisable smart TVs expand to 55in

Loewe has added a 55in screen option its customisable Connect ID smart TV range.

The largest model joins the 32in, 40in, and 46in screens launched earlier this year, all of which are available in 2,160 different colour options, mixing colour combinations and finishes.

Two down-firing subwoofers have been added to the audio spec to enable a fuller sound, and the pricetag is a cool £2,495, plus £300 with the optional 500GB hard disc drive.

What is Loewe Connect ID?

Connect ID is Loewe’s brand name for its smart TVs, including a range of smart TV features such as home network connections:

  • MediaHome for sharing files across your network.
  • MediaText for engaging with HbbTV interactive features.
  • MediaNet internet access.

Connect ID TVs have an optional hard disc drive for recording, and feature Loewe DR+ Streaming to stream video to other Loewe TVs on the home network, using the Follow Me feature.

The Loewe Assist Media app also lets iPad users control their TV and stream video from their hard disc to their iPad.

What connectivity do Loewe Connect ID TVs have?

Connect ID TVs are the only ones we’ve heard of that feature integrated powerline networking, as well as WiFi, Ethernet and USB.

These can be used to stream media from PCs and network storage, as well as streaming to other Loewe TVs.

Does MediaText for HbbTV work in the UK?

No, HbbTV is the advanced interactive TV standard for Europe, but Freeview and Freesat both use the MHEG-5 standard – HbbTVs cannot play back the BBC iPlayer.

However, HbbTV is being integrated into the British digital TV specification for TVs with broadband connections, so it may a useful function in future.

What are the performance specs for Loewe Connect ID TVs?

All Connect ID TVs are Full HD 1080p LED screens with active 3D (that’s the one where the glasses need batteries).

They feature two wide-bandwidth speakers, high-efficiency D-class amplifiers and digital audio signal processing, and an integrated AC3 audio decoder for connection to Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround sound systems.
