New London TV channel London Live has commissioned an number of programmes and acquired others with an urban theme.
The channel has giving the go ahead for nine original shows and acquisitions that will air every day from 11pm onwards when the channel launches at the end of March.
This “Raw” strand includes MTA Productions’ sitcom The T-Boy Show, a multicultural comedy starring Tolulope Ogunmefun from online sitcom Met The Adebanjos. The show follows a rich Nigerian who comes to London to live with its cousin and aunt.
Another sitcom for the strand is based on its YouTube series Brothers With No Game. The 13 part series tracks the sorry love lives of four Londoners.
Grime music site GRM Daily is producing two car-themed series, Car Check and Dine Daily. Both shows are based on previous YouTube efforts and are billed as being “Top Gear for the urban generation.”
The channel has acquired a series from Balcony TV. Based on its online music portal, ‘Balcony TV: Music Sessions’ will showcase acoustic sessions, all recorded from a balcony overlooking the rooftops of Westminster.
“We are really excited about this new programming and the calibre of the talent that we are showcasing. We want Raw to be confident, cheeky, experimental and edgy and provide a real platform for scenes on screen, giving the online stars of now the chance to be the TV stars of the future,” said Derren Lawford, Commissioning Executive, London Live.
