Netflix to screen Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari’s Buried Alive stand up show

Netflix has nabbed yet another exclusive gig, a stand up comedy show by Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari.

Buried Alive is a live set filmed on Ansari’s recent tour and features material on ‘pending adulthood, babies, marriage, and love in the modern era.’

Ansari’s previous stand up efforts Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening and Dangerously Delicious are also available on Netflix, but the actor who plays Tom Haverford in Parks and Recreation, says that things are a little different this time round.

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to Netflix“This special is much, much different than my previous two,” said Ansari.  “As I hit 30, my material got very personal as I grappled with the gravity of the adult world – love, marriage, babies, and more. Do I really have to deal with all that now? Are my ding dong friends really getting married and having their own children? I couldn’t imagine having a kid right now. After I type this sentence, I’m gonna drink an apple juice and watch Jurassic Park – if that’s a guy that’s supposed to be ready to be a father, I’m very concerned. That’s what Buried Alive is about.”

The hit comedy show will be available to watch from November 1 onwards on Netflix here in the UK and Ireland and everywhere in the world where Netflix is available.

“Aziz is the perfect example of the new generation of comedy stars.  He’s smart, multi-faceted and socially engaged with his fans, making him a perfect fit for the Netflix audience,” says Lisa Nishimura, vice president of Originals for Netflix.  “We’re excited to share this exclusive comedy with our members.”

Netflix seems to be keen to remind viewers that it’s got a good line in comedy. Last night Netflix’s Twitter account for the UK and Ireland reminded us that it’s got foul-mouthed comedian Doug Stanhope’s latest live show Beer Hall Putsch on tap as well as the eminently quotable 1980’s classic Airplane! ready for take off.
