The PictureBox on-demand movies services is now directly available to subscribe to online.
The platform, available through TV platforms like Virgin Media, BT Vision, TalkTalk TV and Top-Up TV, is now available to anyone online for £4.99/month.
Those with a Windows or Mac desktop or laptop will be able to stream films from PictureBox, as will owners of Samsung Smart TVs and connected Blu-ray players. iPhone and iPad owners can download the PictureBox app now and support for Xbox 360 (Xbox LIVE Gold subscription required) is coming soon.
PictureBox gives you access to a rotating line-up of 60 hand-picked NBCUniversal films. Every week the list is refreshed with a new set of films, with each new weeks’ additions staying for three weeks before being shuffled off of the carousel. Current titles available include The Incredible Hulk, Step Up and Hellboy II.
While the line-up of 60 films per week doesn’t give you anywhere near as much choice as the competition, the PictureBox rationale is that its list is curated, so you don’t have to sift through hundreds of films you wouldn’t want to get to the good stuff.
The hand-picked idea sounds good on paper but if you’re curious to see how PictureBox stands up, new subscribers can sign up now and get the first month free, with obligation to sign up for a long-term contract. Head on over to PictureBox now to sign up.
