Plusnet has relaunched its student broadband packages as universities and colleges prepare for a fresh intake of spongy young brains.
Once again, there’s a choice of Unlimited or 10GB-capped Essentials broadband via ADSL at up-to-16Mbps, plus weekend landline calls, with a 4-port wireless-N router included.
Both work on a monthly rolling contract with a 10-day notice period if you need to cancel, although there is a £25 activation fee and a £5.99 router delivery fee.
Plusnet said: “Students can always do without paying for something they don’t need, which is why on a tight budget, a 12 or 18 month broadband contract can be more hassle than it’s worth.
“Plusnet has the answer with a range of brilliant no contract deals, simply sign up for as long as you need and cancel when you leave the house.”
The student options are:
- Plusnet Unlimited broadband with weekend calls: costs £12.49/month plus £14.50/month line rental, total £27.99/month.
- Plusnet Essentials broadband with weekend calls: costs £8.49/month plus £14.50/month line rental, total £23.99/month.
Plusnet’s inclusive weekend calls cover UK 01, 02 and 03 landline numbers and 0870/0845 throughout Saturday and Sunday, with calls of up to 60 minutes, as well as voicemail, 1471 (last caller) and 141 (withheld number).
You’ll also get free calls to other Plusnet phone customers at all times, and free calls to 24-hour Plusnet Support.
Essentials broadband is limited to 10GB usage per month, while Unlimited has no cap, although peer-to-peer and Usenet traffic receive lower priority at peak times.
