Radio 1 is to get its own channel on the BBC iPlayer.
As well as letting viewers tune in to the aural delights of Nick Grimshaw, the channel will feature video content from Radio 1’s Live Lounge sessions and interviews with stars from events like the Big Weekend festival.
Other features such as the incredibly unhygienic Innuendo Bingo (pictured) will also feature in the new channel and its hoped that live events like BBC Radio 1Xtra Live and Radio 1 Teen Awards will be broadcast live as well.

“Radio 1 has always pioneered innovative ideas and led the way in engaging with young people and this is another huge step in cementing that reputation.”
Radio 1 has posted much of its video content, like the Kanye West interview by Zane Lowe, on the BBC’s main website and on YouTube, where it’s racked up over 3 million views in total on the station’s channel. Placing everything on iPlayer will give fans and listeners one dedicated place to access everything.
