Roku remote control app FINALLY lands on Windows Phone and Windows 8.1

Roku users can finally use Windows Phone and Widnows 8.1 devices to control their smart TV streamers, thanks to the launch of new apps.

The Roku apps are headed to Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 phones like the Nokia Lumia 630 and Windows 8.1 devices including the Surface Pro 3

The app allows users to control and navigate the Roku player in the same way as you can with the iOS and Android apps, which have been available in some form since 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Patrick Ellis, senoir product manager at Roku said: “We’re thrilled to add Windows to our mobile app line-up, joining our Android and iOS mobile apps.

“Roku makes it easy to enjoy the hottest movies, TV shows, music, games and more on your TV. Millions of people use their Roku players every day to watch their favorite entertainment instantly and on demand.”

As well as fire up your favourite streaming services and play casual games, you’ll also be able to ping photos and video taken on your phone with the Roku app.

Roku for Windows is available to download right now in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland, from the appropriate Windows Phone and Windows 8.1 app stores.
