Samsung Smart TV serves up STV Player for Scottish streamers

Samsung has launched the STV Player catch-up service on its Smart TV range, offering Scottish viewers the chance to catch up.

The full line-up of STV content that’s available on the STV Player can be accessed from the same place as BBC iPlayer and ITV Player is. Available in the STV licence areas, viewers will also be able watch the likes of Britain’s Got Talent and Coronation Street alongside STV News and Scotland Tonight

STV Player is also available to watch on the go on iOS and Android phones and tablets and in the living room on YouView and PlayStation 3. Roughly 640,000 people use STV Player every month and since the mobile apps were launched last October, they’ve been downloaded over 400,000 times.

Samsung continues on its march to add more on-demand and catch-up ribbons to its Smart TV platform. Recently, Samsung nabbed ITV Player on a limited exclusive basis and has thrown Demand 5 into the mix as well. For those after something a bit more highbrow, there’s the Curzon On Demand and BFI apps and S[edition], which is possibly the most expensive way to look at art ever.
