Sky 3D showing Champions League Final in 3D plus Eurosport 2012 French Open

As well as the London 2012 Olympics, Sky 3D will showcase Eurosport’s live 3D coverage of the French Open this summer.

From the 28th of May to the 10th of June, all UK tennis fans will be able to tune in to the action at Le Stade de Roland Garros in three dimensions on the Sky 3D channel.

John Cassy, Director of Sky 3D, said via a statement: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Eurosport and bringing our customers live action from the French Open, as well as the first 3D Olympics this summer.

By working with channel partners and continuing to invest heavily in our own 3D sports coverage, we’re able to offer our customers a fantastic array of sport in 3D this summer, with football, rugby, cricket and tennis all available in immersive 3D over the next few months. Thanks to our ongoing commitment to 3D, Sky 3D customers can look forward to a monumental summer of sport.”

Sky: 4 million UK homes will be able to watch Olympics in 3D

This announcement comes ahead of a weekend of 3D sporting action kicking off with the Chelsea vs Bayern Munich UEFA Champions League Final and the Ulster vs Leinster Heineken Cup Final.

Sky 3D is available free with the Sky World package plus the HD Pack which currently works out at £63.25 a month.

Additionally, Sky will be opening up Sky 3D to all Sky HD subscribers for the duration of the London 2012 Olympic Games. All you’ll need to get set up for the Olympics in 3D with Sky is hook up a 3D-ready Sky+ HD box to a 3D TV.

This marks the first time that the Olympics have been broadcast in 3D. Sky estimates that more than 4 million UK homes will be able to tune in to the 3D broadcast of the games.
