Sky and Eurosport to broadcast London 2012 Olympic Games in 3D

Sky has just announced a partnership deal with Eurosport which’ll see the London 2012 Olympic Games charging in to your living room in glorious 3D.

Eurosport will be broadcasting over 100 hours of three dimensional Olympic action on the Sky 3D channel. Along with the opening and closing ceremonies, the climactic 100 meter final will be shown in 3D along with swimming, basketball, gymnastics, and canoeing.

What’s more, Sky will be throwing open the 3D gates for the Olympic games to all of its Sky+ HD subscribers.

Over quarter of a million homes in the UK are currently set up for Sky 3D as well as thousands of pubs. However for the duration of the games, Sky will be opening up its 3D channel to all Sky+ HD subscribers, of which there are over 3.8 million. To enjoy the action, you’ll need to have a 3D TV set compatible with a 3D Ready Sky HD box.

Olympic games in 3D coming to Sky Anytime

A range of highlights shown in 3D will also be available on-demand from Sky Anytime. This compliments Sky’s move to broadcast every second of the BBC’s Olympics coverage in both HD and SD (standard definition) across 48 dedicated channels.
