Sky to add 20 on-demand club sections for Premier League

Sky Sports susbcribers can now track their favourite Barclays Premier League team via a dedicated catch-up area in Sky On Demand.

You’ll be able to watch replays of all the games shown on Sky Sports, view interviews with managers and players, go back in time with documentaries of your club’s legends and watch highlights from Soccer AM and The Fantasy Football Club.

Going head-to-head with dedicated fan football channels like Liverpool Football Club TV (LFC TV) and Manchester United TV (MUTV), the on-demand service adds a whole lot of extra content to Sky’s offering, making up for the games you’ll miss that are shown exclusively on rival BT Sport.

Sky Sports head of football, Gary Hughes, said: “For the first time, Sky Sports viewers can download and enjoy some of the best content dedicated to their team, whenever they want.

“With massive growth in on demand TV viewing, we’re delighted to introduce this brand new service for Barclays Premier League fans. Fans of all 20 clubs will soon be able to watch the latest news and views on their club at any time.”

Sky customers can choose to watch the highlights from the Sky On Demand menu from their Sky+ HD box via the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).

This season, Sky Sports will show 116 live Premier League matches, while rival BT Sport will host, on average, three games a month.

The broadcaster announced the addition of Sky Sports News HQ and Sky Sports 5 last month, just in time for the Premier League football season to start next weekend (August 16).

Virgin Media customers can now also get access to the Sky Sports for iPad app, which now allows Virgin customers to login using their account information for the first time.
