All broadband connections blasted by St. Jude’s UK Storm now fixed by Openreach

Openreach engineers have fixed the few remaining places that were disconnected by the severe weather at the end of October. 

Following the brief bout of bad weather ushered in by St. Jude’s Storm some customers experienced disruption to phone and broadband services. 

BT’s network division Openreach promised a quick fix and got to work, recently giving Maidenhead, Reading and Southampton the all clear. Now services in the final 13 areas affected have been fully restored.

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to Openreach’s repair logs and MBORCsAs well as reconnecting customers who were blitzed by the extreme weather, Openreach has also made it possible for new customers to sign up for services in the affected areas. The last areas to be ticked off of Openreach’s repair list are: 

  • Bournemouth 
  • Cambridge
  • Central Downs 
  • Colchester and Ipswich 
  • Crayford 
  • Croydon
  • East Downs 
  • Esher 
  • Guildford 
  • Hemel 
  • Romford 
  • Southend 
  • West Downs (including the Isle of Wight) 

Openreach teams are used to dealing with situations like this and have had good practice in recent years. Preparations for the storm meant that no major outages were reported, but that couldn’t prevent a small number of areas from being affected.
