TalkTalk answers Sky’s Now TV with free LoveFilm for a year

TalkTalk has responded to the launch of Sky’s Now TV movies-on-demand service by offering a free 12-month subscription to LoveFilm for its top-tier broadband customers.

The LoveFilm Instant subscription – worth almost £60 – is free to new and existing TalkTalk Plus broadband-and-phone customers on ADSL or fibre.

It’s a streaming video service with a library of more than 8,000 films and TV episodes, which can be accessed through PCs, smart TVs, games consoles and iPads.

Tristia Clarke, TalkTalk’s commercial director, said: “Our customers love watching films and TV series online and the LoveFilm Instant deal offers fantastic value.

“This exciting new partnership with LoveFilm means our customers can experience a world of entertainment and box office hits streamed directly to their connected devices.”

The Lovefilm credit will also act as a free year for anyone with an existing LoveFilm subscription at £4.99 per month, with the voucher code accessible through their TalkTalk online account management.

TalkTalk Plus costs £14.50/month for unlimited downloads at up-to-20Mbps on ADSL, plus line rental from £9.50/month (paid 12 months in advance), with inclusive evening and weekend calls.

TalkTalk Superfast Fibre Optic Broadband costs an extra £10/month for up-to-38Mbps and £15/month for up-to-76Mbps, plus a £30 install fee.

Note that in order to get the 12 months of free LoveFilm you’ll need to sign up for TalkTalk Plus before the 31st of August 2012. You’ll then be sent a voucher code which is redeemable at any time from now until the end of the year.

Last week saw the launch of Now TV from Sky, which costs £15/month for access to more than 600 films from Sky Movies, or individually on pay-per-view.

It’s available on PC, Mac, selected Android phones, and iPad, with Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Roku and YouView access to follow later this year.
