TalkTalk has launched MobileSafe, a security suite for Android phones that’s a mobile version of its popular HomeSafe software.
MobileSafe is a free app for TalkTalk mobile customers and is available to download now.
This is ideal for parents who want to filter out what their children can access on their phones on the go. You get access to a control panel that’s essentially the same as what you get with HomeSafe; you get the option of blocking access to pornographic sites, social networks and gambling sites. A safe browser works in tandem with parental controls by blocking access to any known phishing or malware sites.

Public networks like The Cloud don’t provide access to adult content in most places and the government wants all public WiFi to block these kinds of sites, but with MobileSafe it doesn’t matter.
MobileSafe also comes with F-Secure’s antivirus software built in, letting you scan apps for malware and anti-theft measures that let you track the location of lost or stolen phones and remotely lock and wipe data.
Perhaps best of all is the safe contacts feature which lets you easily build a block list. While this is an effective way to cut down on abusive messages, you can also use this to easily block unwanted calls and texts from PPI marketing teams and the like.
MobileSafe requires Android 2.2 Froyo and above to work and is compatible with virtually all Android phones with an active TalkTalk SIM card. You can download TalkTalk MobileSafe from Google Play now.
