The Fall joins Ripper Street as another Amazon Prime streaming exclusive

Belfast-based crime drama The Fall is headed to Prime Instant Video in the UK on an exclusive basis.

The gritty psychological thriller recently finished its second season on BBC One last December and while the last two episodes are currently available on iPlayer, those who missed out can watch every episode both seasons via Amazon’s streaming services now.

Chris Bird, Film & TV Strategy Director, Amazon Instant Video UK said: ”We’re delighted to secure another high quality drama exclusively for our customers.

“Alongside Golden Globe nominated Amazon original series Transparent, our recent hit third series of Ripper Street and the ever popular Vikings, this just adds to the stable of high quality drama only available for subscription streaming in the UK through Amazon Prime Instant Video.”

The Fall’s new line-up consists of Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan but, shockingly, not Mark E Smith

Ripper Street, like The Fall, initially aired on the BBC before being cancelled – and subsequently revived for a third season by a joint Amazon-BBC partnership. Both shows are also filmed around the Belfast area and feature Irish actor Michael McElhatton, perhaps better known for playing Roose Bolton in Game of Thrones

The second series of The Fall attracted 2.5 million viewers when it aired on BBC Two last year, with combined figures between season one and season two amounting to 3.79 million.

Rumours are circulating that a third series of The Fall will be commissioned soon and that a US remake is in the works.
