TVCatchup now features BBC, ITV and Channel 4 catch-up links

TVCatchup, the online TV streaming service has launched a new service that both streams BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 content and links to their catch-up services.

Unlike the previous cloud PVR, which let users record and access programmes online, TVCatchup now redirects to BBC iPlayer, the ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5. TVCatchup doesn’t host any of this content anymore, but the convenience of having all of the PSB catch-up services in one place remains.

It’s the online equivalent of YouView, the digital terrestrial service that lets you access on-demand content from the four PSB channels on your TV.

Alex Guest, marketing director of TVCatchup, says: “Just as we stream the best selection of linear channels in the UK, we are also bringing together the best collection of on-demand TV programmes. Viewers today want one place to find all they want to watch and we’re making it easy for broadcasters to reach their public.”

The revamped catch-up menu exists alongside TVCatchup’s linear TV service, which lets you watch every BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 channel as well as things like Dave, Yesterday, Movies4Men and Vintage TV.

TVCatchup says the new service, which is browser-only for now, will be rolling out to the TVCatchup apps on iOS and Google Play soon.

The service ran into some legal troubles earlier this year when the European Court of Justice ruled that the service could not re-transmit content from ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 without express permission from the channels. TVCatchup remained defiant that the channels would remain, and it looks as though they’re here to stay.
