If you can’t make it to Sundance London 2013 this year fear not – Viewster is now streaming 20 independent movies online for free.
Viewster’s initial line up of 20 independent films includes the Academy Award-winning Shine and Shadow of the Vampire, starring Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich, alongside Stathis Athanasiou’s Dos which scooped the New York Independent Film Festival Award winner in 2011.
UK film fans can sign up for Viewster and watch the movies for free, or pay £2 per film if they want to watch without adverts.
Viewster works in most browsers and uses Adobe Flash Player, so make sure you’ve got the most up to date version installed. For those who want to watch movies on the go or away from the desktop, there are mobile apps for iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android (4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and above) as well as a Leanback-style service that works by connecting your PC or laptop to your TV via HDMI.
Fans of independent cinema or film fare that’s not on the well-beaten Hollywood track haven’t been that well served by video on-demand platforms. While the likes of Netflix and Lovefilm have large libraries that cater for most tastes, wannabe cineastes haven’t had much choice beyond the Curzon On Demand service until now.
