Virgin joins Eurosport’s 3D French Open tennis party

Virgin Media has joined Sky with 3D coverage of the French Open on Eurosport, starting on Sunday.

Centre court matches at Le Stade de Roland Garros will be on Virgin channel 523 and Sky 3D, from May 27 to June 10.

Katharine Burns, executive director of content acquisition, Virgin Media said: “Following our exclusive coverage of the French Open in 3D last year, we’re delighted to be bringing our customers this year’s tournament in 3D once again.

“With a wide range of 3D content, including a fantastic range of Olympics content in 3D courtesy of Eurosport and the BBC, Virgin Media customers are in for a real treat with a full summer of sport in 3D, all at no extra cost.”

To watch the 3D coverage. Virgin Media viewers will need one of its 3D-ready HD boxes – TiVo, V HD or an old V+ box, plus a 3D-ready HDTV.

Virgin will also be carrying the full range of the BBC’s Red Button coverage of the Olympics, in HD, with 24 feeds to show every event. 

Eurosport will also be showing 3D coverage of selected Olympic events, plus the opening and closing ceremonies  this summer.
