What is Sky Sports Mix? Sky’s new sports channel explained

Sky Sports Mix is a new channel from Sky that’ll serve up a selection of live sports that are broadcast regularly on the usual Sky Sports channels. 

This means you’ll get the occasional Premier League football game live. Sky Sports Mix will be available to all Sky TV customers for no extra cost, so it’s a nice little bonus channel for existing customers.  

Whether you’ve got a Sky+HD box or you’re signing up for Sky Q, you’ve got the Family Bundle or the Silver Bundle, it doesn’t matter; everyone with a Sky TV subscription will be able to get Sky Sports Mix for no extra cost when it lands later this year. 

Right now we’ve only got a few details about what events and sports will be covered. We’ll go through everything we know in detail here. 

How can I get Sky Sports Mix?

Related: How can I watch Sky Sports?Sky Sports Mix is being thrown in as a freebie channel, so if you’ve got a Sky TV subscription, you won’t have to do anything to get it, it’ll be included as standard, just like Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and all the other channels are. 

When is Sky Sports Mix launching?

Summer 2016. Sky has so far not come forwards with a solid launch date. 

What channel number is Sky Sports Mix going to sit on?

It’s currently unknown where Sky Sports Mix will land on the Sky EPG. 

I can get Sky 1 and Sky Living on Virgin Media. Will I be able to get Sky Sports Mix? 

No. Sky Sports Mix will only be available to Sky TV customers, at least for the time being. 

But you can sign up for Sky Sports on Virgin, BT and TalkTalk TV…

Yes, but it doesn’t look like Sky Sports Mix will be available anywhere but Sky TV for the foreseeable. 

I’ve got a Now TV Entertainment Pass. Can I get Sky Sports Mix?

It doesn’t look like this is on the cards at the moment, but given that Sky Sports Mix is being bundled with Sky’s other entertainment channels, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the same would apply for Now TV customers. If this changes, we’ll let you know. 

How much is Sky TV?

Sky+ subscriptions start at £20/month at the moment, while the cheapest Sky Q package costs £42/month. 

How much is Sky Sports?

Sky Sports is available from £13/month with Sky+ packages and £25.50/month with Sky Q. 

Of course, while you won’t be able to get Sky Sports Mix with any other TV provider, you can get Sky Sports with Virgin, BT and TalkTalk TV subscriptions and stream live Sky Sports coverage with a Now TV sports pass. We’ve rounded up all Sky Sports prices and package options here.
