There’s no lying about your weight with the Aria Smart Scale – it uploads your pounds, body fat ratio and BMI to your FitBit profile via WiFi.
The Aria is part of Fitbit’s intelligent health programme, which includes the Fitbit Ultra activity tracker and apps for both PCs and smartphones.
Priced at £100, the Aria Wi-Fi smart scale can track fitness stats for up to eight users on separate Fitbit accounts, and users can choose to keep their progress secret from others.
“Fitbit continues to provide users with intelligent and compelling ways to monitor key activity indices and we’re pleased to be able to build upon this offering with the Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale,” said Gareth Jones, VP and European general manager for Fitbit.
“The Fitbit Aria is fully integrated with iPhone and Android Fitbit Apps, as well as all the online motivational tools, so there is a great platform for users to understand their weight while empowering them to set and achieve their desired goals”
The £80 Fitbit Ultra is a USB stick-sized device that tracks steps, distance, sleep patterns and stairs climbed, with an altimeter and accelerometer.
It has an OLED display for providing real-time feedback and uploads data automatically when it’s close to the 2.4GHz charging station.
The PC, Android and iOS apps let you track trends with graphs and charts, set goals and track progress, earn badges as you progress, connect with friends and other Fitbit users, and track your food intake.
You can also sign up to the Fitbit Premium service for £40/year, which combines a personal trainer, nutritionist and sleep consultant which sets goals, offers advice and creates a personal diet plan that changes based on your progress.
So now we’re just looking forward to the ruthless Aria Smart Mirror that tells you how everyone else thinks you look and highlights your love handles.
