YouView iOS app irons out recording clashes with latest update

The YouView iOS app has been updated to include a new Bookings feature which aims to iron out potential recording clashes.

The version 3.0 of the app lets users review recording requests from the new Bookings screen. The Booking screen will display requests made through the app, but not those made directly through your YouView+ box

If there are any clashes you’ll be notified via a pop up and you’ll be able to view the details of the clash.

This way, you’re alerted to any clashes in advance, giving you time to sort them out. This could be useful in situations where your housemate has for some reason queued up repeat recordings of Homes Under the Hammer in HD, which they could just as easily watch on iPlayer instead.

Recording requests are grouped by their status and then ordered by the original airing date. If you touch the Bookings screen and drag downwards you can refresh the list.

In the Bookings screen viewers will be able to hide individual recording requests, or all recording requests within a group. If a recording request has not been successful for any reason a ‘Booking update’ dialogue message will appear.

Users will also be able to send a recording request for any repeat showings from the Programme Information screen if the original request failed due to a recording clash.

The most recent update for iOS owners saw the YouView app reimagined for Apple tablets and support for the iPad Air and iPad Mini with retina display added.

The YouView App is supported on Apple devices running iOS 6 and iOS 7 and is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPod Touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and all versions of iPad except the first generation.

The app is available to download now from the iTunes App Store.
